Erin Edmondson Named Director of Special Populations for WISD

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Erin Edmondson the Director of Special Populations at their board meeting held on Monday, January 13, 2025. Mrs. Edmondson will lead the district’s team of Special Education staff, and support campus principals with education procedures, staff positions, caseloads, and service models.

Mrs. Edmondson has twenty years of experience in public education, eighteen of which she has served in WISD. Beginning as a Special Education Life Skills teacher and Structured Learning Environment Teacher at Felty Elementary, she then became a Lead Behavior Specialist, a Special Populations Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Special Populations. In September 2024, Mrs. Edmondson was named the Interim Director of Special Populations.

"The position of Director of Special Populations is a critical piece of our district's leadership team,” said Acting Superintendent, Dr. David Averett. “Mrs. Edmondson's technical knowledge of all facets of special education services combined with her genuine passion for all students makes her a natural choice to lead this department."

Mrs. Edmondson holds a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M Commerce, a Master’s of Education specializing in Special Education-Autism from the University of North Texas, and an Administrative Certification from Lamar University. She is a part of the Association of Texas Professional Educators as well as the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education. She graduated high school from Palmer, where she met her husband of 21 years, Tyler. They have two girls, Danni, who attends WHS, and Paige, who attends Coleman Junior High.
