Curriculum
WISD Child Care utilizes the Frogstreet Curriculum for infants through PreK. It provides comprehensive, integrated instruction in social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language domains. It is a thematic curriculum that balances intentional instruction with child-centered learning. It values individual differences and empowers children with choices in self-directed activities. It has a strong focus on social–emotional development, featuring Dr. Beck Bailey’s Conscious Discipline. It provides a strong teacher-child interaction to develop language and vocabulary by using songs, stories, rhymes, finger plays, and games. It provides a systematic and sequential continuum for building skills and concepts. It is aligned to the Head Start Early Learning Framework, Texas school readiness, and Texas Prekindergarten guidelines.

A program certified by Texas Rising Star is recognized as an early learning provider that has agreed to deliver enhanced quality care through the Texas Workforce Commission Child Care Services. These programs satisfy requirements that exceed the minimum standards set by the State’s Child Care Regulation and are awarded a certification level of Two-Star, Three-Star, or Four-Star, depending on the extent of compliance. WISD Child Care Center/Little Chiefs Academy has achieved the distinction of being rated as a Four-Star center.
