The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or PSAT/NMSQT, is a great tool for students considering college. The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. Waxahachie High School recommends that freshman, sophomore, and junior students take the PSAT/NMSQT to receive feedback about their academic strengths and weaknesses, enter the competition for National Merit Scholars (junior students only), and help prepare for the SAT.

The 2024 PSAT/NMSQT will be offered on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at WHS.
Students must register and pay to participate in this exam, using the link provided on this page.
This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed on any computer with internet access.

To complete registration, students must answer all the required questions. Registration is not complete until students print a PDF of the confirmation page that is provided at the end of the registration process.

Waxahachie High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please have a debit or credit card available before beginning the registration process. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made and avoid delays with mailing a payment.

• 9th grade - $18
• 10^th grade - Free
• 11^th grade
  • Free for 11^th graders who are approved for Free or Reduced Lunch. You will be asked about Free & Reduced lunch eligibility during the PSAT registration process. Please note that your eligibility will be confirmed.
  • Free for 11^th graders who took the PSAT during 10th-grade administration and whose total score was in the 95^th percentile.  You must complete the registration process and select “pay online later today.” Eric McCarty will confirm your eligibility and contact you via email. Please email Mr. McCarty with any questions.
  • $18 for 11^th graders NOT in the above two 11th-grade categories.

• No late payment, no exceptions. Registrations not paid by the deadline will be canceled and exams will not be ordered.
• No refunds will be granted after the deadline, without exception. We will place the order for PSAT materials at that time and cannot change that order.
