For Students Receiving After-School Care from Grandparents in the Waxahachie ISD Attendance Zone

Families residing within the Waxahachie ISD attendance zone whose children receive substantial after-school care from resident grandparents may request a Resident Grandparent Hardship Application packet at their child’s campus or the WISD administration building.

To apply, parents or guardians, along with the resident grandparents, must all appear in person at the administration building and present a valid photo ID.

Once submitted, a committee composed of members from the superintendent’s cabinet and the Director of Student & Campus Services will review each application for approval. The principals from both the student’s zoned campus and the requested campus will also provide input, ensuring that factors such as campus and grade-level capacity are considered during the review process.

Guidelines for Families Outside the Waxahachie ISD Attendance Zone

Families with students who reside outside the Waxahachie ISD attendance zone but receive extensive after-school care from grandparents living within the district may be considered for this opportunity. The Grandparent After-School Care Application packet can be obtained from your child’s campus or the WISD administration building.

To apply, parents, guardians, and grandparents must all be present in person at the administration building, and each must provide a valid photo ID when delivering the completed Grandparent After School packet.

Submitted applications will be reviewed for approval by a committee composed of members of the superintendent's cabinet and the Director of Student and Campus Services.
