WISD Names Principal of Marvin Biomedical Academy

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Ashley Gabbard as Principal of Marvin Biomedical Academy at their regular meeting on June 10, 2025.
Ashley Gabbard began her career as a paraprofessional and went on to teach 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades in Ferris ISD and the Clay County School District in Jacksonville, Florida. She has most recently served as the Assistant Principal at Felty Elementary since 2021. With 12 years in education, she brings experience in instructional support, relationship-building, and creating school environments where staff and students feel supported and valued.
Ashley Gabbard graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 2008. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2014, followed by a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Sam Houston State University in 2016. In 2021, she completed a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. Outside of school, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children.
WISD Superintendent Becky McCutchen said, “Mrs. Gabbard's focus is on advancing student academics, and she is eager to assume her duties as the next leader of the campus. We welcome her to this new role, and we look forward to her leadership and the continued success of the staff, students, parents, and the broader community at Marvin Biomedical Academy.”
Mrs. Gabbard said, “I’m truly honored to step into this role and excited to get to know the staff, students, and families at Marvin. Relationships are everything to me, and I’m looking forward to working side by side with staff and families to build on the momentum already in place. Together, we’ll continue growing a campus where students feel supported, challenged, and proud to learn. I’m honored to lead Marvin into its next chapter and excited for the growth ahead.”
