6 All-State Performers
Six WISD students were named 2025 All-State Performers by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA).
For Band and Choir, beginning each fall, over 70,000 high school students across the state audition in their TMEA region. Individuals perform college-level music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. A select group of musicians advances to compete against musicians from other regions in their TMEA Area. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles.
Congratulations to WISD’s Band and Choir honorees:
- Evan Robinson - 12th Grade - Tenor 2
- Erik Schuetz -12th Grade - French Horn (3x All State!)
- Luke Weir - 11th Grade - French Horn
- Brianna Christian - 10th Grade - Bass Clarinet
- Jayden Yarbrough - 12th Grade - Bari Saxophone
Students named All-State Musicians will perform at the TMEA Clinic/Convention in San Antonio, which will be held Wednesday-Saturday, February 12-15, 2025. More than 30,000 people from Texas and around the world are expected to attend the convention, which features over 300 workshops, 100 performances, and 600 exhibiting companies and higher education institutions. This is the nation’s largest music educators convention.
For Dance, All-State members are selected by directors based on their skills, dedication, and leadership.
