2024 Valedictorians and Salutatorians

Waxahachie ISD is thrilled to announce the accomplished valedictorians and salutatorians for the Class of 2024. These exceptional seniors have tirelessly pursued excellence resulting in their well-deserved positions as the foremost and second-highest achievers in their graduating class. Proving their achievement is limitless, these individuals exhibit a remarkable breadth of knowledge with unparalleled academic prowess. 

We extend our congratulations to these distinguished honorees as we celebrate this significant achievement.

WHS Valedictorian

Owen Bartosh is the son of Cliff and Michelle Bartosh. After graduation, Owen plans to attend Southern Methodist University to major in business marketing and political science. He would like to attend law school and operate a national political campaign consulting firm. Owen is currently serving as student body president, head drum major of the band, and editor-in-chief of Hachie Media. He is a National Merit Scholar, a four-year Texas All-State Band member, Mr. WHS 2024, and competed in UIL journalism.  He is most proud of the 1,248 hours spent practicing All-State Audition music, and of being a four-year Texas All-State French Horn player.

WHS Salutatorian

Maddie Dunn is the daughter of Craig and Shanna Dunn. She plans to attend Dallas Baptist University to major in either nursing or communications. During high school, Maddie was a member of the student council, including serving as senior class president, was co-president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Cherokee Charmer drill team, part of the broadcast media team, on the yearbook staff, a member of Interact Club, and co-founder of the Jesus Club. She was also Miss WHS, an AP scholar, and named Charmer Rookie and Veteran of the Year. She is most proud of taking advantage of the incredible opportunities she has had to contribute, make a positive impact, and share God's love with all around her.

WGH Valedictorian

Maya Gus is the daughter of Amanda and Dan Gus. After graduation, she will attend the University of Texas at Austin to study neuroscience in the Health Science Scholars Honors Program and will pursue a career in medicine. During high school, Maya served as TSA president, senior class vice president, HOSA treasurer, and student council reporter, was a member of the National Honor Society and Culture Club, and received national recognition from the College Board. She is most proud of graduating as valedictorian and of her class and receiving an associate's degree.

WGH Salutatorian

Vandan Patel is the son of Suru and Jignesh Patel. He is undecided on a college but plans to major in biomedical sciences or healthcare management, to become either an orthopedic surgeon or an anesthesiologist. During high school, Vandan has served as student council vice president, National Honor Society president, head of marketing for the yearbook, regional analyst for BAPS, a member of HOSA and the sports club, competed in UIL academics and was a member of the prom committee and the gaming club. His proudest accomplishments are bringing happiness to his family by being the salutatorian, and also finding his path in the medical field.
