Waxahachie ISD Names Interim Director of Fine Arts

Waxahachie ISD announced today that veteran campus administrator Sean Cagle has been named the Interim Director of Fine Arts for the district. In this position, Cagle will oversee and grow all fine arts programs in the district, from Pre-K through high school, as well as UIL Academics programs.

Cagle has served Waxahachie ISD for more than 20 years, most recently as an assistant principal at Waxahachie High School, after being a classroom teacher at the junior high and high school level. In the classroom, Cagle taught art, ceramics, and painting, and served as the WHS Fine Arts department head.

“Mr. Cagle is a proven leader who has a passion for students and the arts,” said Dr. David Averett, WISD Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Leadership. “We look forward to seeing what he will accomplish in this role to benefit the students and staff of Waxahachie ISD and emphasize the importance of arts education at every level.”

Cagle holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is on the founding committee for the Waxahachie High School Ex Students Fine Arts Hall of Fame, which honors WHS educators and graduates who have made great achievements in the arts. Cagle is active in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Waxahachie Ex Students Association and a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, where he is an organizer of OddFest, a local art and music festival.

“I am excited to support and grow the highly successful Waxahachie ISD fine arts programs, encouraging strong fundamentals at the elementary level, as well as building relevant professional development programs for teachers at all campuses,” said Cagle. “Ultimately, I want all stakeholders in our community to participate in the arts and understand the value of fine arts education for all students.”
