Waxahachie ISD Hires Girls’ Track Coach

Waxahachie ISD announced today that June Villers will be the new Waxahachie High School head girls’ track coach, filling the spot vacated by retiring head coach Dana Scott.

“Coach Scott’s strong foundation of success has allowed us to attract one of the most elite high school track coaches in the nation,” said WHS girls’ athletic coordinator Sandy Faussett. “Coach Villers is the best there is and our students and school community will soon see why.” 

Coach Villers was recently named the Texas High School Coaches Association “Coach of Year.” Coach Villers is the first and only female to receive the award. This distinction reflects her exceptional talent as a coach, teacher and leader. Coach Villers comes to Waxahachie ISD from DeSoto High School, where she built a tradition-rich track program that is nationally recognized.  She accumulated nine UIL track and field team state championships, and she cultivated a program that produced dozens of elite track athletes. Her career in education spans 25 years as a coach, math teacher, and athletic administrator. Coach Villers has received numerous accolades and honors, including her upcoming induction into the National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June.
