WISD Safety & Security Update
Our thoughts and prayers remain with those involved in the tragic events in Uvalde, as well as with their entire community. The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority.
For the remaining days of the school year, our district staff and partners with the Waxahachie Police Department will be more present on our campuses. We will also implement more stringent security measures for all visitors on campus.
For those attending awards ceremonies or other large events on campuses over the next two days, please anticipate delays as we work to verify identities and get visitors signed in. Each visitor will be required to sign a visitor log and provide information including driver’s license number and date of birth, and will have their ID validated. You can help us streamline this process by bringing your driver’s license with you when you enter the building, and also by leaving purses and bags in your vehicles. Waxahachie ISD reserves the right to search any bags brought on campus, and to use a metal detector if staff deems it necessary. With these enhanced screening measures in place, it may take longer for us to check in all guests. We recommend arriving early to allow plenty of time to complete the security screening.
We thank you for working with us to make the last two days of school fun, while we also keep our students and staff safe.
