Commitment to Transparency and Community Engagement
Waxahachie ISD recognizes that growth and change can raise concerns. District efforts remain focused on maintaining transparency by sharing available information and communicating decisions promptly to ensure the community remains well-informed. Community feedback is highly valued, and patience throughout this process is appreciated as the goal is to secure the best outcomes for all students.

When will WISD announce final decisions regarding the zoning for WCHS?
Will all CTE programs offered currently at WHS be offered at WCHS?
Most of the CTE offerings found at WHS will be offered at WCHS as well. There are some areas of study that will vary slightly, for example, WHS offers "Business Management" as an area of study, while at WCHS "Marketing and Sales" will be offered in its place. Another example is within the Manufacturing program, at WHS "Welding" is a stand-alone area of study, while at WCHS we will offer "Robotics and Automation Technology" in its place, with welding being offered under the Ag Mechanics program.
Who was involved in the decision for CTE offerings at WHCS?
WISD collaborated with branding consultants from VLK, the architectural firm responsible for designing WCHS, and more than 100 community members and current students to thoughtfully determine the school’s colors and mascot. As a result, we are pleased to formally announce the selection of the WCHS Bison as the official mascot, with royal blue and Kelly green designated as the official school colors.

Will students be made to switch from WHS to WCHS?
Will any transfers between WHS and WCHS be allowed?
There are 2 transfer options being considered. First, a “One-time Transfer Option” will be available to any student who wishes to participate in an academic program not offered by the campus they are zoned for.
- i.e. A zoned WCHS student wishes to participate in a welding program only offered at WHS. If the student leaves the academic program for which they transferred, the transfer is revoked, and they would return to their zoned campus.
- Secondly, “Grandfathered Students” refers to any student who has earned at least one (1) credit towards graduation at a high school campus, or a student who is granted a one-time academic program transfer. Said student may stay at the campus through graduation as long as they continue to participate in the same academic program.
- All transfer students must provide their own transportation to/from school.

What items are being taken into consideration when planning for rezoning?
WISD zoning priorities include:
- socioeconomic balance between both WHS and WCHS
- keeping WHS and WCHS in separate UIL districts for as long as possible to avoid direct competition
- efficient campus utilization
- pure junior high campus feeder pattern
Based on feedback from our June Town Hall meetings, the current plan for rezoning draws the line between Wedgeworth and Dunaway’s boundaries following FM 1446. We also updated the feeding pattern to reflect Marvin feeding into WCHS instead of WHS. For visuals, see the adjoining WCHS presentation. Please also note that our lottery students who attend Marvin and Wilemon STEAM will feed into whatever Junior High they are individually zoned for.

How is WISD addressing inadequate traffic capacity for a high school on Howard & Old Italy Roads?
Waxahachie ISD is working closely with both TXDOT and the City of Waxahachie to address concerns regarding existing roadways leading to WCHS. Spur 394 has been approved, and phase one will provide passage from IH 35 E at Waxahachie Crossing to Howard Road. The City of Waxahachie also plans additional improvements to existing roadways in the area.
