Opportunities for Students
By expanding access to extracurricular activities and CTE programs, the district can better support students’ personal growth, academic achievement, and future career success.
Extracurriculars and Career Development
Approximately 75% of current WHS students participate in at least one extracurricular activity. However, there is a limited number of spots available for student participation in these programs, regardless of the school’s size.
Additionally, Career and Technical Education programs prepare students for both college and career opportunities by providing hands-on training and the chance to earn certifications in various fields. At WHS, students can become certified in areas such as:
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Pharmacy Technician
- Welding
- Educational Aide
- Cosmetology
Opening a second comprehensive high school will effectively double the number of spots available for student participation, allowing more students to get involved and benefit from these experiences.
