WISD Names Director of Fine Arts

Waxahachie Independent School District is proud to announce the appointment of Jennifer 
Burkhalter-Foley as the new Director of Fine Arts.

Mrs. Burkhalter-Foley brings a strong background in arts education, instructional leadership, and program development. In her role, she will lead the district’s efforts to develop and implement a comprehensive K–12 fine arts vision that aligns with district goals and reflects the values of the Waxahachie community.

As Director of Fine Arts, Burkhalter-Foley will oversee curriculum design and vertical alignment across all fine arts disciplines, ensuring high-quality instruction and cohesive program development from elementary through high school. She will also supervise, coach, and evaluate fine arts educators and campus directors to strengthen instructional 
effectiveness and student outcomes.

In addition to her instructional leadership, Burkhalter-Foley will manage district-wide fine arts budgets, including staffing, equipment, and capital investments. She will coordinate major events such as performances, competitions, and travel, while fostering strong relationships with parents, booster organizations, and community arts partners.

Burkhalter-Foley holds multiple certifications, including Principal EC–12, Generalist 8–12, History 8–12, Social Studies 8–12, ESL Supplemental (4–12), and GT Supplemental. She is also a National STEM Educator and a certified T-TESS Evaluator.

I am honored to transition from my role as assistant principal at Waxahachie High School into the position of Director of Fine Arts for Waxahachie Independent School District. As a proud graduate of this district, it is a privilege to lead programs that have had such a meaningful impact on my own journey. I am committed to supporting our outstanding educators and expanding opportunities so that all students, from Pre-K through 12th grade, can thrive through high-quality, student-centered fine arts education. Jennifer and her husband, Jonathan, have two children, Allison (WHS Class of ’19) and Jackson (WHS Class of ’23). She also has two step-children, Payton (WHS Class of ’22) and Ean (WHS Class of ’25)
