WISD Names Principal of Global High

Dr. Ryan Cavazos

The Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Ryan Cavazos as Principal of Waxahachie Global High School at their regular meeting on October 14, 2025.

Dr. Cavazos has been in education for twenty-four years, with fourteen of those years serving in administration. He has served as a teacher and coach in Ferris ISD and Midlothian ISD, and served in many roles for Rio Vista ISD including Athletic Director, High School Assistant Principal, and Principal of their middle school. He is in his tenth year with WISD. In his time with WISD, he has served as Principal of Challenge/High School of Choice, Principal of Howard Junior High, and most recently as the Assistant Principal of Waxahachie Global High School.

Dr. Cavazos has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Southwestern Assemblies of God University, now known as Nelson University. He has a Master of Education in Education from SAGU/Nelson, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Superintendency from Abilene Christian University.

WISD Superintendent Becky McCutchen said, “I am pleased to announce that Dr. Ryan Cavazos has been named
the next Principal of Global High School. Dr. Cavazos brings more than 15 years of experience in educational leadership to this position and has been a valued administrator in Waxahachie ISD since 2016. Most recently, he has served as Assistant Principal at Global High School, where he has played an integral role in leading the campus and supporting student achievement. Dr. Cavazos is dedicated to maintaining the high standards of excellence and continued success for all students at Global High School.”

Dr. Cavazos shared, “I am very excited for the opportunity to continue in a leadership role at Waxahachie Global High School. I appreciate Ms. McCutchen and the WISD Board of Trustees for trusting me to assume the role of Principal at Global, and to carry on the tradition of academic excellence that has become synonymous with this school. My goal is to help foster an environment that is conducive to student success in all areas, and to give teachers the support they need to achieve this goal. We have a tremendous culture, staff, and students at Global and we will keep doing great things.”

Ryan’s wife, Stephanie is a Dyslexia Instructor at Shackelford Elementary. They have two daughters, Taylor (WHS graduate in 2023) and Ashlyn (WHS Class of 2026).
