WISD Names Principal of Creek High School

Chris Thompson

Waxahachie ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Thompson as the principal of
Waxahachie Creek High School. Thompson brings nearly two decades of experience in education, campus leadership, instructional support, and student development to the role.

Thompson currently serves as Principal at Red Oak Middle School in Red Oak ISD, where he has helped facilitate staff transitions during campus expansion, establish campus systems and procedures, and lead both office and content specific professional learning communities. His leadership experience also includes serving as Assistant Principal at Coleman Junior High and Interim Assistant Principal at Finley Junior High in Waxahachie ISD.

Throughout his career, Thompson has built a strong reputation for instructional leadership, student advocacy, and campus operations management. His background includes overseeing discipline management, serving as a 504 Coordinator, acting as an Emergency Operations Officer, and leading data-driven initiatives to support student achievement.

Before moving into administration, Thompson spent several years teaching mathematics at both the middle and high school levels, including positions at Waxahachie High School, Red Oak Middle School, Life School Oak Cliff, and St. Paul’s Preparatory Academy. During his time in the classroom, he taught courses ranging from 7th-grade math to Pre-AP Geometry and also served as an Algebra Team Lead and Department Head.

The opening of Waxahachie’s second comprehensive high school is an incredibly special time in the history of our community. Mr. Thompson is a dedicated educator and proven leader who understands the importance of building relationships, supporting teachers, and creating opportunities for student success. His experience and commitment to educational excellence make him an outstanding choice to lead Waxahachie Creek High School. Becky McCutchen, WISD Superintendent of Schools

The opportunity to return to WISD for the historic opening of Waxahachie Creek High School is a tremendous honor. I am looking forward to building a foundation of excellence at WCHS that will bring pride and unity to our community. Chris Thompson

Thompson earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2021 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Chris and his wife, Laura live in Waxahachie and have two children, Asher (11) and Darcy (9).
