Empowering Learning
Personal Device Initiative
Technology offers a transformative opportunity to enrich education and support our students as they grow into capable citizens for the 21st century. Waxahachie ISD is committed to this goal through an initiative that supplies students with personal electronic devices, ensuring seamless access to a wealth of educational resources. With these tools, students experience a blended learning environment that equips them to become responsible “digital citizens,” adept at interacting with a wide array of technology platforms and applications—extending learning beyond the classroom and into the home.
WISD expects all students to handle their assigned devices and accessories with great care, keeping them fully charged and prepared for every class period. Those who prefer may opt out of the district-provided program by using their laptops or Chromebooks; however, smartphones are not eligible as substitute devices.
Students are responsible for promptly reporting any device issues—such as broken screens, missing keys, lost or stolen equipment, or malfunctioning chargers—to their campus administrator, teacher, or library media specialist. If a device or its accessories are lost, damaged, or misused and are not insured, the student is responsible for paying any repair or replacement costs associated with the device and its components.
This initiative is designed to empower students, foster responsibility, and prepare them for a connected and ever-evolving digital world.
