Dual Language & ESL

It is the state’s policy that all students whose primary language is not English and who have been identified as English learners are guaranteed full access to participate in bilingual education or English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, in accordance with the Texas Education Code §89.1201.

The Waxahachie ISD Bilingual Program is dedicated to helping English language learners achieve proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English, while also building their literacy and academic skills in both their primary language (Spanish) and English.

Similarly, the Waxahachie ISD ESL Program aims to empower English language learners to become skilled in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English through the comprehensive application of second language instructional strategies. We are committed to nurturing students who are bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate—lifelong learners prepared to thrive in and contribute to a diverse, multicultural world.
