Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher in the Waxahachie Independent School District. The district is always seeking qualified substitutes to assist us in carrying out our mission of "Excellence in Education." 

Below you will find the requirements for becoming a substitute in Waxahachie ISD:

Completed application and copies of allowable government-issued identification as determined by federal law (See lists on I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form).

Waxahachie ISD has a requirement of fifteen college hours for substitute teachers. Please include your college transcript with your application.  If you have special skills that should be considered in the place of our requirement of fifteen college hours, please include this information with your application.

All substitutes must be fingerprinted as per Senate Bill 9. Substitutes must have fingerprints on file in order to sub with Waxahachie ISD. Substitutes are required to pay for their own fingerprinting at an L-1 Enrollment Identity Solutions location.  Rules for fingerprint-based background reviews

2019-2020 Substitute Pay Structure

  2019-2020 Rates 10+ Days Long Term Daily Rate
Paraprofessional Substitute $65 $80
Non-Certified Substitute $70 $95
Teacher Certified Substitute $85 $150
Administrator $250 Long term administrator rate to be determined by Superintendent on a case by case basis.
All substitutes must attend a mandatory three-hour orientation prior to subbing for the district.  Orientations are held monthly at the WISD Administration building at 411 N. Gibson Street.
