Coach Greg Gober Steps Down as Runnin’ Indians Head Coach

Coach Greg Gober announced today his resignation as head coach of the Waxahachie High School varsity boys’ basketball team. Coach Gober will remain with Waxahachie ISD until the end of the school year.

During his six seasons as head coach, Coach Gober’s teams won 75 percent of their games, with an overall record of 141-47, and reached the playoffs each year.

“Coach Gober has made a lasting impact on our boys’ basketball program in Waxahachie ISD,” said WISD Athletic Director Greg Reed. “He has strengthened our program in ways that will continue to resonate for years to come.”

Coach Gober, a Waxahachie native, played on the WHS 1981, 1982, and 1983 state tournament basketball teams, of which the 1983 team was the state champion.

“It has been an honor to come back to my hometown and coach the Runnin’ Indians,” said Coach Gober. “The players and staff I have worked with during my time here have made a huge impact on my life, and I will miss them, and the community, greatly.”

Waxahachie ISD will begin looking for its next head boys’ basketball coach immediately. Any interested parties should apply via the positing posting at wisd.org.
