Global spellers and speakers advance to UIL Academic State Championships

Waxahachie Global High students competed at the Region UIL Academic Championships at Stephen F. Austin State University on April 16 and 17. Three Global students will advance to the final round of competition and will now take on the top 24 competitors in 3A UIL academics at the state championships on May 1.

Chloe Baldwin, junior — 2nd place, State Qualifier

 

The Spelling and Vocabulary Team earned 2nd Runner Up at Regionals. The team consisted of Chloe Baldwin, Emily Speelman, and Naysa Watson.

 

We are so proud of their accomplishment at the competition and are all very excited to cheer Chloe on at the state meet.

 

“Despite a year full of unprecedented challenges, our UIL competitors have proven themselves to be resilient,” said Global UIL Coordinator Virginia Cofer. “They have worked very hard to prepare for competitions that have looked a lot different than they have in the past. We are all very proud of just how successful they have been during this unique time, and I know that they'll do well at the state competition.”
