This summer, sports medicine personnel will perform Baseline Concussion Testing at the Lumpkins Stadium Fieldhouse and the Waxahachie High School Athletic Training Room.
This test will take approximately 20-30 minutes per athlete. The Baseline test
will cover balance, visual acuity, and memory, among other factors to make
sure an athlete is not suffering from a traumatic brain injury.
Baseline Testing will begin Monday, July 13. Due to the pandemic, we will limit the number of tests that can be performed in a facility to four athletes at a time.
- Upcoming 7th, 8th, 9th, and 11th graders will be tested.
- Testing will be done Mondays—Fridays from 7:30 a.m. — 3:30 p.m.
- If your child is not participating in the strength and conditioning camp,
but they will be playing football or volleyball in the fall, please email EJ Hairston to sign up for a time for boys or email Alex Vega for a time for girls.
Testing is done on an iPad that will be strapped around the waist of the student-athlete for parts of the test. After each use, each belt will be disinfected and each iPad will be wiped down before another student touches it. We will have gloves for students to wear during testing when using iPads.
If you as a parent have concerns or questions, please email EJ Hairston at email EJ Hairston, or come with your child to get tested. Only test administrators and athletes will be allowed in the testing area. Parents/guardians can wait in the car or outside of the Athletic Training Room.
