Below you will find information regarding payment, registration, testing, rules for testing, what to bring for testing, and the testing and registration schedule. The Waxahachie ISD GED Testing Center has its own rules for payment and registration. Please be sure to read all the information provided below.
Waxahachie ISD GED™ payment is to be made between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the WISD Administration office located at 411 N. Gibson Street. Payment must be made with exact change, cash, check, or money order. Payment may be made by mail with a check or money order if sent seven days prior to testing date. When mailing your payment, please include your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and driver’s license number.
Testing FEES: $90.00 for first-time testing. Retesting is $25.00 per test.
Directions to Payment Site: From Hwy. 77 at Hwy. 287 go south to Marvin. Go right onto Marvin. Take a left on Gibson (just past the First United Methodist Church). Building is the "little old red school house" on the right hand side.
The GED Testing Center will be open according to the registration and testing schedule listed below. Please see the registration schedule below for exact dates. Registration is at 5 p.m. on the scheduled date at the Waxahachie ISD Testing Center located at 630 N. Gibson Street. Candidates must be present at registration promptly at 5 p.m. Anyone wishing to test must attend registration before testing. Candidates must bring a valid governmentally issued picture ID. Candidates coming to the monthly registration will be given a testing date. Each month extra testing dates may be added as needed to allow all registered candidates to test in the month registered. It is recommended that candidates not schedule off work, if needed, until after registration and testing date is determined. Directions to Registration/ Testing Site: From Hwy. 77 at Hwy. 287 go south to Sycamore. Go right onto Sycamore. Go two blocks and go left onto Gibson. You will cross Ross and enter the back side of the Wilemon campus. The large grey with green trim and WISD Service Center written on the end of the building rounded roof building to the left is where the center is located. The door is on the corner. A sign (GED Testing Center) is by the door.
Please Note: Do not use a GPS it will send you to the wrong place.
The street running between the school building and the football field is N. Gibson. The Wilemon Center (Global High) is located at 600 Second Ave. The testing center address is 630 N. Gibson.
Starting February 9, 2013, testing will begin at 8 a.m. Candidates must arrive at 7:45 a.m. to be seated to test.
There will be no admission after the testing session begins. The five tests are writing (including an essay), social studies, science, reading, and math. Testing time for writing is two hours, math is 90 minutes, science is 80 minutes, social studies is 70 minutes, reading is 65 minutes.
What to bring:
Governmentally issued identification examples include: driver’s license, Texas ID card, passport, U.S. military picture ID. IDs must be shown for both registration and testing. The testing center provides everything for the test including calculator, scratch paper, pencils, and pens.
Candidates sitting for the test must not have any electronic devises with them. Please leave them in your car. Anyone who brings a cell phone, any electronic devise, handbag, paper, etc. must place the item on the personal items shelf in the testing room. No food or drink is allowed at your seat in the testing room. If you are found to have a cell phone or any other electronic device on your person, you will be asked to leave the testing room. Your answer document will be sent to Austin and recorded but not scored, and you will not be allowed to test in our center in the future. You will not get a refund. There is a $50.00 fine for writing in the test booklet. Your test will not be scored until the fine is paid.
GED will have a new series of tests January 1, 2014. You must pass all five tests with a minimum score of 410, an overall score of 2250, and an average score of 450 before December 31, 2014, or you will be required to take the entire battery of tests over.
Required Demographic Form
You must fill out a demographic form on line prior to registration and testing. Follow the directions below:
Go to www.utk16.org/scoring then choose GED Demographic Form listed on the left of the page. Scroll down the page and click on the line that tells you to click here to link to the demographic page. A page will come up that asks for an EID. You do not have one, so click on "I don’t have an EID." Another page will come up with a lot of questions. Answer the questions and then a page will ask for your name, Social Security number, etc. Then you will be asked for a password. Create one following the guidelines. Then you will be given an EID. Go back to the login page. Use your new EID and password and finish your demographic form.
Waxahachie ISD does NOT offer GED preparation classes. For more information about test preparation classes taught at Navarro College, contact the Navarro Adult Education Department at 972.937.7612. Prep classes are also available on line at www.ed2go.com/lighthouse.

GED Payment, Registration and Testing Schedule
Registration and Testing is at 630 N. Gibson Street. Payments are made at 411 N. Gibson Street. Testing schedules may be changed with notice. Candidates will register for test and testing dates on Mondays.
Testing dates are subject to change with notice.
Each month’s second testing date will be used as an overflow date when the first date is full.
Additional dates may be added as needed to accommodate all candidates’ desires to test as soon as possible. Please do not schedule time off from work or arrange for baby sitters until you have your exact testing date scheduled.
