Waxahachie ISD invites parents and community members to give input on resources being considered for adoption and purchase under Texas Education Agency Proclamation 2015. Resources are under review by district committees for the following subjects and levels:
Mathematics, Grades 9-12
Social Studies, Grades K-12
Fine Arts, Grades K-12
In order to be included in Proclamation 2015, publishers were required to submit a product for review by the state that met state guidelines for quality instructional products. Resources must cover a minimum of 50% of the state standards in order to be placed on the Commissioner's List.
District committees reviewing eligible resources are comprised of teachers, administrators, parents, and community members. Committee members have spent many hours examining products for instructional quality, with a focus on students' needs for mastery and home support.
If you would like to examine the products being reviewed by WISD, you may come to Turner Learning Center at 614 N. Getzendaner Avenue for more information. Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2015, products will be displayed by content area and grade level in PD Room 2. Public viewing will be available daily from 9:00am–4:00pm. After viewing, you may address any questions or concerns to Glen Tolar, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, at Turner in Room 407, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 972-923-4727.
We value our community and parents’ input on these critical decisions as we continue to ensure the best learning experience for all students. We hope you are able to take part in this resource study, and we look forward to seeing you over the next month.
